Fig. 3 - Pigment motion in a toroidal-shaped fragment.(Movie 5) A melanophore was dissected in a ring path with a microneedle producing a toroidal cytoplasmic fragment and a discoidal remnant containing the nucleus and centrosome (top). Pigment aggregation was induced with adrenalin (bottom). Pigment in the toroidal fragment moved away from the fragment surface forming an annular ring whereas pigment in the discoidal fragment aggregated centripetally as normal. Bar, 50 mm.
