Fig. 5. Model for dispersion of pigment granules in melanophores. During dispersion, pigment granules (balls) initially move to the periphery along radial microtubules (thick lines) but then leave microtubule tracks and distribute homogeneously in the cytoplasm by motion along randomly arranged actin filaments (thin lines).
